2008 NA HOKU HANOHANO AHA MELE - MISSION MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM
The Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts presented a free concert by Na Hoku Hanohano recording artists in the Mission Memorial Auditorum on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. The name of the concert was "2008 Na Hoku Hanohano Aha Mele" and it featured performances by Hoku Zuttermeister, Maunalua, John Cruz, Pilioha, and Kuuipo Kumukahi and the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame Serenaders. From Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann: "The City is delighted to work in partnership with the Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts to host this concert for the second year in a row. It is an opportunity for us to support our artists by sharing our civic space so they may present and perpetuate their music for the enjoyment of residents and visitors of Honolulu". The concert was held in the Mission Memorial Auditorium on the grounds of the Frank F. Fasi Civic Center. The auditorium is one of three brick buildings built in 1916 as a tribute to the American Protestant Mission to Hawaii. Seating at the concert was limited to 300 people and concert goers were asked to call the Hawaii Academy of Recording Artists at 808-593-9424 to reserve a seat. This was the 2nd Annual Na Hoku Hanohano Aha Mele and in 2008 the event was again sposnored by the Honolulu Mayor's office of Culture and the Arts.
